I’m Kat Walker –> an artist based in Virginia, USA.
“I want to be an artist when I grow up” was something I said often as a child. Just a raw little human speaking my truth!
I’ve always made art in some capacity, yet for a long time I struggled to actually call myself an artist. In 2023, I had a genuine “aha!” moment that sparked a series of positive changes in my life, strengthened my well-being, and helped me reconnect with the creative part of myself. I’ve been on a renewed mission to make art, joy, and self-expression a priority ever since.
Today, my work is rooted in the totally absurd experience of existing in the world: working through grief, facing the really shitty parts of life, growing through motherhood, trying to make sense of how insane it is to be a conscious being, staying playful, using colors I LOVE, and always always always seeking joy.

Graphic design is where it all started for me. Since 2010, I’ve been making bold, illustrative work for global companies, small businesses, nonprofit orgs, local governments, and basically everything in between!
PHOTOGRAPHY
I love capturing the beauty and mystery hidden in overlooked places and moments. I’m drawn to crumbling or abandoned buildings, resilience in nature, solemn tranquility of cemeteries, vibrancy of city life, intricate details of architecture, and whimsical artistry that surrounds us every day. My photography is about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary and sharing that unique perspective.
